Ellen in NYC

For the past twenty something years, Ellen Lawlor has been a part of my life, she has filled many roles in our tried and tested relationship. We met during her stint as Hairstylist and Educator for my ex-husband Trevor Sorbie, whose standards are, for those that don’t know, almost impossible to reach so, I knew, from the first day we met that she must be a multi-talented hairdresser, a person of high integrity, a sincere and exceptional lady… little did I know, ten years later I would move to New York City and, that one day I would say, ‘I am honored and privileged to call Ellen my friend, my mentor, my teacher, my soul mate … I thank Trevor for the introduction, to one, of my now, closest and dearest friends.

 

At Redken 5^th Ave. NYC, Ellen showed me ‘the ropes,’ helped me overcome my fears of presenting and believing in myself, she supported all that I did and, found the time to bring me into her wonderful home life. If it wasn’t for Ellen and her amazing husband, Jimmy, who teases me beyond words, I’m not sure I would have stayed… her friendship made up for the loneliness from my family and friends in England.

 

Working together enabled us to laugh and cry over many a hairdo, especially when she was a part of my Team for The Alternative Hair Show, in turn, we’ve supported each other at New York Fashion Week, on events and at hair shows, she is one of the most talented, experienced and dedicated hairdressers I know…
